illumination: this colorful world

O God…we are thankful
that you have created this colorful world…
that you have invited us to see the world through your eyes…
and that you trust us enough to join you in the creative process.
Through the stories we hear today,
may your light shine brightly on our path
as we strive to fulfill your hope for all creation
through Jesus Christ, our Lord…
Amen.

Illumination: come and see

Eternal God, we are listening for your gracious Word,
made flesh for us in Jesus Christ.
Call us to come and see where he leads,
and teach us to believe in his name.
Help us to do as he tells us
so our lives might be signs of his glory.
We pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.

illumination: teach us the lyrics

Holy God,
in the midst of our stillness, let your Spirit move;
through the sound of sheer silence, may we hear you whisper;
to the rhythm of creation, set the beating of our hearts;
and with the words of these stories we hear today,
teach us the lyrics to your song
Amen.

Illumination: hearts burn

Risen Christ,
you opened the scriptures to your disciples
and made their hearts burn within them.
Open our eyes, our ears, and our hearts,
so we might recognize you once again
in these words of scripture,
by the power of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Transfiguration Invocation

God of the high and low, we come before you this day seeking your Holy presence. We come to sing praises, pray petitions, and listen to the Word at your holy mountain. We come to experience metamorphosis, to be changed into your people. Change us in this hour so we might speak your Spirit of hope and grace to the world. We pray this in the name of Christ, AMEN.

in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Let our strength serve nothing but your peace.
Through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

Prayer for Illum. – Divine Light + Breath

Holy Spirit, bring your divine light into the readings this morning. Help us to see as you see – to hear as you hear – to act in the world as you would have us act. Breathe life into us as you breathe into your living Word, Jesus Christ. Amen.
