Fire of the Holy Spirit, light the lamps of our hearts. Shine with the light of your Truth, that as we read your scriptures, we see your love flowing through everyone we meet. Amen.
Matthew 25
Charge and Benediction: CtK
Jesus has told us who needs us to care. As you go out into God’s world, keep your eyes open for those who are hungry, thirsty, a stranger, naked, sick, or imprisoned. See Christ in them and help them.
And remember you are God’s beloved. The Holy Spirit lives in you. Christ’s compassion shines forth in what you do. Live as those who know and have experienced God’s goodness. Go now in peace.
confession: purchasing the holy
God of heaven and earth, we ask your forgiveness for the devotion we show to the things of this world. We seek to find comfort, healing, and wholeness through the marketplace. We lean on ideas and dreams to carry us through times of deep emotion. We do not seek out the Holy, but expect to be able to purchase it and buy our way into the kingdom. Forgive us, O God, shine the light in our lives that the things of this world will be taken like a thief in the night. Our only true and present hope is in you, heal us and make us whole in the name of your son, Jesus Christ. Amen.

Confession: too often we say…
Gracious God, too often we say we choose you and yet we do not live in your light. Forgive us for the many times when our heart, our words, and our actions don’t show we have chosen to follow you. Hear the honest pleas of our hearts for forgiveness as we ask for another chance to love you with all we are and to love our neighbors as ourselves. Christ, in your mercy hear our prayers. Amen.
confession: we know, yet…
A prayer of confession written by youth reflecting on Matthew 25.34-40.

One: God, we know your commandments,
we read your story,
we can recite the Golden Rule.
All: Yet every day we ignore you,
every day we forget,
every day we need your forgiveness.
One: We confess that we are not as perfect
as we would like to think.
All: We confess that we often act in ways
contrary to your will.
One: It is only through our savior Jesus Christ
that we can live the way you call us to.
All: Help us again to listen, to follow, to live.
Amen.
