a community creating for the relentless return of Sunday

prayer: O Holy Fire

O Holy Fire,
your love burns bright
with a radiance that beckons us
out of the darkness and despair
and into the light of love.
As we enter your presence
consume us with the fire of your holiness
that only the renewed, refined,
reclaimed, and restored body of Christ
may live on in us.
Amen.

CTW: fine fragrance

To God, we are the aroma of Christ.

As we present ourselves before God
we are the alluring scent
that arouses his great love.
To God, we are the sweet-smelling reminder
of his one and only Son.
So let us fill the walls of this sanctuary
with the fine fragrance of worship.

Invocation: set your spirit loose

All-encompassing God
This hour is devoted to worshipping you
Though it is our whole lives that you require.
Set your spirit loose among us today
That we might be free from all which binds us
And all which divides our focus:
The lure of football games,
The rush to get on to lunch,
The chores and responsibilities awaiting us at home.
Let our worship be unhindered,
We ask in Jesus’ name. Amen.

invocation: pick the locks that hold our hearts shut

Triune God,
you are three and yet one,
the image we are born to resemble.
We gather as the body of Christ
many and yet one
through the mysterious power of your Spirit.
In this time of worship
pick the locks which hold our hearts shut
that we may love you
that we may love each other
with the same totality of love which you love us.
Amen.

CTW: even me?

Come together, everyone, and celebrate the worship feast!

Even me?

Come together, EVERYONE, and celebrate the worship feast!

Even him?  Even her?

Come together ALL as ONE, and celebrate the worship feast!

Let us sing praise to God

        who invites us here

        and unites us here.
