a community creating for the relentless return of Sunday

offering prayer for Advent

Gracious God,
some people give large amounts of money,
some people, like Mary and Joseph, give smaller amounts,
but sacrifice equally, if not more.
We give you thanks for offerings of all amounts,
and ask that you bless them equally
that they may do the work of your Son.  Amen.

CTW: in the midst of life

One:  God calls in the midst of our busy lives,

All:  with a soft whisper, a clear voice, a gentle nudge, a striking view.

One:  God calls in the midst of our busy lives,

All:  asking us to come and follow, to lay down our nets and pick up the cross.

One:  God calls in the midst of our busy lives,

All:  giving everything and asking for everything.

One:  God calls in the midst of our busy lives,

All:  and so we come.

CTW: different roads

L: Our world offers many wide avenues
and beautiful boulevards to walk;
P: Our God invites us to walk the road
of service and sacrifice.
L: Our society suggests we put down our roots
in the shallow soil of pleasure and greed.
P: Our God seeks to plant us on the banks of hope,
watered by the rivers of joy and grace.
L: Our culture promotes achievement, success,
climbing to the top, ringing the bell.
P: Our God tells us if we want to be first
we need to go to the end of the line.
